Ohana Foundation

The Hualalai Ohana Foundation was founded by homeowners who wished to help the employees, who work to make Hualalai a paradise to the eye and to the heart.  The non-profit foundation, its board of directors composed of homeowners and representatives of management, as well as a director and staff, is committed to supporting the educational goals and exceptional medical needs of our Hualalai employees.

Programs for our employees are supported by generous donations from homeowners and others in the community.  Medical awards are granted to employees, their spouses and children in cases of serious or life-threatening illness.  These awards help with expenses incurred beyond those covered by medical insurance, as well as airline travel away from the Big Island, including a spouse, as well as expenses while traveling.

To help supplement children in kindergarten through college, those taking courses to improve work skills, and those learning English as a second language, the foundation provides financial aid directly to the schools.  Summer school programs are also covered, as well as needed tutoring and educational teaching aids, such as the LeapFrog Learning System, the Imagination Library, and financial planning seminars. Annually, those children in seventh through twelfth grades are recognized at a public presentation of certificates of achievement and cash awards, given to both public and private school students who are children of Hualalai employees.

All of us at Hualalai believe “what goes around, comes around,” so we strive to show our employees our gratitude through the foundation.
